Ripley’s Bayfront Mini Golf is located in the City of St. Augustine in St. Johns County. A miniature golf course formally opened on this site on July 15, 1949 with a friendly match between E.L. Madigan, former United States Miniature golf champion, Art Manucy, local golf professional at the St. Augustine Golf Links) and W.I. Drysdale, a prominent amateur golfer and owner of the St. Augustine Alligator Farm.
In 1963, following protests by the local chapter of the NAACP, it was the first public facility in the city to be desegregated. The St. Augustine Civil Rights Movement later played a significant role in the passage of the nation’s 1964 Public Accommodation Act.
Originally known as the St. Augustine Miniature Golf Course, on November 19, 2014, it became the first miniature golf course in Florida to be listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
Located in in the heart of historic downtown St. Augustine, Bayfront Mini Golf is Florida's oldest existing miniature golf course. Beautifully situated along the Matanzas River with a view of the historic Bridge of Lions, the challenging 18-hole course is fun and relaxing.
The golf holes are constructed out of poured concrete with coquina, a significant and common building material unique to St. Augustine. Coquina, a limestone consisting of broken sea shells and coral, was also used in the construction of Castillo de San Marcos!
